Pulling out the stops for Danone at Celtic Manor

When not at TPD Trev can be found playing drums in local semi pro band Innervision, who also played on the main stage at Salisbury’s 2013 Xmas lights switch on

The band were recently asked to play for one of TPD’s clients, Danoe’s baby food division and were hired to entertain staff staying at a two day sales conference at Celtic Manor, the world Championship golf course and conference centre in South Wales. They were booked by Katie Maggs of Danone’s Chippenham office who regularly use TPD to design and supply exhibition stands for a number of their seminars and sales conferences.

Trev’s band play a whole variety of Chart hits by the likes of James Brown, Abba and Brian Adams to more recent hits by The Kings of Leon, Daft Punk, Jesse J and Emile Sande, so just the ticket to keep the Danone crew up dancing all night . The dancefloor packed out pretty quickly and to the ammusement of the guests the band even managed to get a couple of the senior managers onto the stage halfway through the gig. This included them singing a renditions of the Proclaimers 500 Miles with both managers wearing a pair of stylish black rimmed spectacles which all helped create a livley party atmosphere .It was a great night with everyone at Danone really enjoying the band and dancing until late into the evening despite an early start for everyone at the conference the following morning .

With their accommodation and a full English breakfast included the band couldn’t have asked for a better gig.

Jake on the move

Trevor son Jacob is a keen photographer, and passed his two year photography course at Brockenhurst College leaving last year, with three Distinction Stars, the highest marks possible on that particular course! Jake really enjoyed learning to use old style black and white film, something that is still taught at Brockenhurst, along with learning all the latest digital camera techniques. Since leaving college he has set out to make a career for himself in photography and has already completed a couple of commissions for some of our clients.

Jake is a keen to travel the world and loves taking photos of the places, customs and people he meets on these journeys. He recently returned from a four week trip traveling across India. He had a great time taking in the culture and flavor of the country from the more obvious tourist sites, to some of the more remote landscapes, fabulous buildings and the very welcoming and friendly people. Whilst out there he took part in a religious festival which involved throwing bright pink magenta paint at some friends he’d met out there! We noticed he still had a slight tint of this colour staining his hair on his return to the uk!

Jake is currently in Thailand so we are eager to see what he has been up to and what pictures he’s taken this time around when he gets back in about three weeks time.

1963 – What a year that was!

Vietnam was in full throw, Fidel Castro, the Cuban Dictator was throwing his weight around, and President Kennedy was assassinated. Nearer to home we had the Profumo scandal, The Great train robbery and probably the worst bit, Puff the magic dragon was topping the charts. The UK experienced a freezing winter and a roasting Summer, had global warming already started 50 years ago?

However, there was good news on the horizon. The infamous Alcatraz was finally closed down, Martin Luther King announced that “he had a dream” and a star studded cast appeared in the The Longest day, of which it probably was for my Mother! Oh yes, 50 years ago I arrived in a South London hospital. Apparently both my Mother and Father (who wasn’t present at the birth as it was not the done thing in the 60’s) cried.

I assume that this was not with delight but despair at the forthcoming half century of torture which I was to put them through. But I do come from good stock, the likes of William Baldwin, George Michael, Johnny Depp and Brad Pitt are all 63 babies. James May appeared to be the odd one out that year! So some simple mathematics will tell you that with me being 50 in the same year as Trevor Peters Design celebrate their 25th anniversary I must have been a 25 year old slip of a lad when I started the business. The time has certainly gone quickly and if it wasn’t for the fact that I saw my Dad (who is now 91) in the mirror this morning when I was shaving I could have sworn I hadn’t changed at all!

How things change!

Hard to believe it but this year Trevor Peters Design are celebrating our 25th year in business.

We set up office (well a bedroom) in 1988 and started designing with a thing called a pencil. It wasn’t until 1990 and had moved to offices in Catherine Street that we acquired our first computer. To be honest it was more of a hindrance than of any use, it was quicker to draw by hand and printing from it was nearly impossible. And here we are, a quarter of a century later in 2013, surrounded by hi-tech gadgets, wi-fi and a whole host of other gizmo’s that we couldn’t live without.

The tools for the trade may have changed but the fundamentals of providing a quality service and award winning design hasn’t. Be it a website, corporate identity or exhibition stand, if you’re looking for a fresh creative approach we still aim to be innovative, reliable and offer real value for money.
