Now that the political campaign trail has reached full flow I thought it would be a good idea to have a look at the advertising campaigns that are trying to get your vote.

Labour

The campaign was supposed to remind voters of the Conservatives record in the 80’s where youth unemployment and social unrest was widespread.

However unfortunately for them it has backfired and the Conservatives have spoofed the poster. Keeping the image which depicts David Cameron as much loved TV character Gene Hunt from Ashes to Ashes and replaced the slogan with “Fire up the Quattro. It’s time for Change. Vote for Change. Vote Conservative.”

Conservatives

The Conservatives campaign focuses on why not to vote for Labour. Designed by M&C Saatchi who helped Margaret Thatcher sweep to power in 1979 with the legendary ‘Labour isn’t working campaign’. The posters are bold and straight to the point.

Liberal Democrats

The Liberal Democrats have come up with there Labservative campaign to try and highlight the similarities between Labour and Conservative.
The viral campaign morphs the faces of party leaders past and present into one another. Its based on the notion that with over 65 year between them neither party has been able to get it right and that the two parties are as indistinguishable as they are incapable.

With our wide range of diverse clients, from time to time we get asked to produce some fairly unusual exhibition stands and this month was certainly no different. So when we were asked by Peter White of CTEK Battery Chargers to create a portable trolley that could demonstrate how their chargers work, we were a little shocked!
Constructed entirely of square tube and sheet metal the trolley had to have the facilities to demonstrate the charging capabilities of the product. With individual Volt and Amp meters showing the charge and drain on two individual car batteries. It’s construction is designed to be easily taken apart and transported. The strong black and white CTEK branding was applied using self adhesive vinyl graphics. Designed initially as a prototype, further examples are planned for the near future.

Our large format Epson printer surpassed itself this week. Professional photographers Jon and Louise Stone had taken shots of children from their local primary school and needed high resolution, large format black and white prints. Unsure of how the Epson would deal with the task we did a few test prints and the results were tremendous! We can deal with sizes up to A1 and on a variety of paper qualities. Although calibrated for litho printing the printer offers surprisingly accurate colour images and the quality really is stunning. With prices from only £2.50 for an A4 come and give it a try. We can even do them while you wait.

We are on fire at the moment and with Drogba scoring in 8 out of the last 10 Champions League games I’m not worried at all! Well maybe just a tiny bit, after all they do have a few choice players and I can’t really speak ill of the manager can I? Lets cut to the chase and predict a 2-1 victory for the blues.

Latest Update – well the score was right but not the team! still there’s the rematch in 2 weeks. No worries!

As a team of creative people every now and again a new customer comes along with a product that really gets us excited. So when Andrew Hay from Gireau Ltd. approached us to put together some promotional material for a range of French premium spirits we couldn’t believe our luck.

Using 100% French ingredients Gireau’s selections of Gin, Vodka and Cognac are at the higher end of the retail market. Their distinctive tastes of purity and quality underline the love and care that has been applied through out the production process. With further products soon to be added to the range, Gireau are sure to be the name on the lips of social drinkers who appreciate the finer things in life.

Unfortunately all our samples have now been drunk but if you would like to try them for yourself go to: www.gireau.com

Whilst at the golf course last weekend, I finally got to see up close the latest hot hatch from Ford – the RS Focus. Well what a car, at last Ford have gone back to their winning formula of great looking hatchbacks, with powerful engines and race proven performance. I still remember as a newly married young man of 25, the first time I drove an RS Escort turbo series 1, a real pocket rocket. With it’s diamond white paint job, boy racer body kit and that sweet 1.6 turbo charged engine it flew.

So what about this new RS, this particular version was in a bright shocking green with the all important body kit and large black pram handle rear spoiler. Two very large stainless steel exhaust pipes protruded from the rear wrap around valence and large silver alloy wheels with extra low profile rubber finished the look. Available with factory approved engine mods to further improve its performance, this new RS really looks the dogs ‘what’s its’! With regards to how it drives I have no idea, unfortunately the owner of this RS is not a relative so I will have find another way of getting a go!

Spending a large amount of the day sat behind a computer takes it’s toll. So trying to find something that you can enjoy and gets you out at the weekends is maybe not that easy. But I think I’ve finally done it, thanks to my eldest son Ben, he’s introduced me to the game of golf. Yes I did initially think, what that game that semi-retired overweight company directors play. Well what a mistake to make, I’m hooked. I may not have a single figure handicap, but I love it! Yes and if I don’t get to play just once a week I do get a little withdrawn, daft I know but it’s that sort of game. Ok so not everyone agrees and yes I’m lucky to have an understanding wife, but like most things everything in moderation. So if anyone is thinking of having a go, book some lessons, find some second-hand clubs and go for it!

How many times has somebody suggested a ‘Great’ new film to you, which when you finally get to see it leaves you feeling let down. So when my father in-law suggested ‘Harry Brown’ the latest from Michael Caine , I thought I’d give it a go. Not normally in a bad film, with the exception of ‘Jaws 3D’, Sir Michael didn’t disappoint.

A truly gritty portrayal of an aging ex-marine who’s best friend is bullied and later killed by yobs on an inner city housing estate. Sir Michael brings to the surface all his past military experience from his postings in Northern Ireland to exact a bloody revenge.
As a study of modern life on large inner city estate’s ‘Harry Brown’ is a truly ‘British’ film. A hard hitting moral story of friendship, loyalty and standing up for what you believe in.

Well worth a look!

I lived in South London until I was 12. As you can imagine it was a bit of a culture shock to move to rural Salisbury and although you couldn’t wish for a nicer place to live my roots have remained firmly South of the Thames. The family and I paid a visit to the big City on Sunday for a bit of sightseeing and window shopping and I have to say there was still a bit of nostalgia there for me. We even visited the hallowed ground of Stamford Bridge where I pictured myself stood with my huge rosette and itchy scarf cheering the likes of Osgood on. Oh happy days, well not for Osgood although his ashes are buried under the penalty spot. Next was Harrods. I admit I am not the best at shopping but this place really is entertaining. In fact there’s not much you can’t purchase in this shoppers paradise all be it with the hugely inflated price tags to match, but then you do get the authentic green carrier bag and a very nice man to open the door for you. And did I mention the young ladies in the cosmetics department???
The day continued with more great British icons, more expense, some very tired legs and all the hustle and bustle that goes with one of the worlds most exciting city’s. And you know what? yes it was lovely to come home to the peace and quiet of Salisbury. No we haven’t got the attractions that London can offer, the variety, the culture and the nightlife but there’s something appealing about a quieter and simpler way of life – Or maybe I’m just getting old!
